Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur was incepted on 16 July 1962, making it the youngest Rashtriya Military School of the country. The school was inaugurated by then Defence Minister Shri VK Krishna Menon. It was planned to be set up in TalabhShahi at first, but on the orders of Maharani of Dholpur, the school was then established in Kesarbagh Palace donated by her. Rashtriya Military School of Dholpur is seated on a beautiful nest of hills overlooking the incredible Chambal Ravines.
Situated at the serene hillocks overlooking the Chambal Ravines, Rashtriya Military School of Dholpur has housed some of the best cadets of the country. The school has amalgamated the modern training and discipline with its royal infrastructure quite beautifully. The school has six houses: Udaibhan, Shivaji, Chittor, Ujjain, Nalanda and Taxila (which was later renamed to Jagan House. At its inception, the school had a capacity to accommodate 75 cadets. Today, it has capacity to accommodate and train for 450 cadets. The school provide quality training to the cadets and has given the country some of the bravest officers in the Indian Armed Forces..
